Roses are red

In a season that is more often grey, dark and cold than it isn' t, I'm probably not the only person who likes to bring some spring home with her and buy some cut flowers like tulips, daffodils, etc.

One weird thing I have noticed (although less with the spring flowers and more so with roses, lilies, chrysanthemum, etc.) is that English cut flowers bought in the supermarket last longer than if I buy some in Germany! How strange is that!? I put the little bag of plant food in the water as said on the wrapping and they normally last well longer than the guaranteed 7-10 days. Is it some unusual chemical thing? The British climate? I really don't know...but I enjoy buying my flower and having them around me for so long.

  1. Das ist aber interessant. Ich liebe Tulpen, sie sind ein schöner Farbtupfer, aber nach dem fünften Tag in der Vase sind sie unansehnlich. In England wohl nicht. :-)
