Today is our 4th wedding anniversary, isn't it just scary how time flies (and I'm not just saying this, I MEAN it)?!
Four years ago we went to Brighton in our big van, with my 20£ dress, my self-made wedding bouquet out of red and white roses mixed with rosemary from Tesco and little transclucent rocailles, the bag full of make up, my white satin peep toes and the green flip flops for the beach....
The windy walk along the coast to get to the register office, the scary moments of doubt if our witness would turn up (we hardly knew him), our photographer being the only one wearing a tie...
Me trying not to laugh, my husband trying not to cry. The champagne outside and the relief and joy that it was done now. The demonstration outside the office shouting "What do we want? More money! When do we want it? Now!".
I loved the whole day as it was and wouldn't change a thing if I would get married again.
A plea for having a secret, intimate and very small wedding...forget all the fuss, the stress and the money and just enjoy your very special day!
You get married because you love each other not because the guests need a bad dj or sugar shock from the cake.
If the idea of getting married like this ever crossed your mind - be brave and just do it :-)
